For reliable and cheap life insurance cover

When can I claim with Critical Illness cover?

There is usually a 28-day survival period, before you can claim.

All Critical illness policies require you to survive for a minimum period of time following your Doctor’s diagnosis. The period is called the survival period. If you died before the end of the survival period you would not have a claim.

Most insurance companies set the survival period as 28 days but a few have shortened this to 14 days.

Remember, however, that if you have an insurance policy that combines both Critical Illness cover and Life cover, no matter when you die you will always be insured under the life cover provisions of your policy. This shows quite well why it is so valuable to take out combined Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover, as you are insured in all eventualities.
